In Retrospect: 2013

food collage2

2013 will always be a very special year for us here at The Alternative Food Blog because it is the year that we created this humble site we call our own.

When we originally created this site, we did so because we wanted to share whatever knowledge of halal eateries, Muslim-owned eateries, vegetarian restaurants and places with vegetarian options all over our sunny island. It started off small with the hope that the knowledge we shared would benefit anyone who faced the same conundrums that we always face.

But, our site is growing quickly and we are so humbled by the followers we gain every single day on our Instagram account or the people who share our tweets on Twitter.

Every once in a while, we get e-mails from readers or comments that send good wishes our way and thank us for the reviews that we write. Every little comment that we get, be it via email or the various social media sites, means so much to us and helps us be better than we are today. It is always such a nice feeling for us to open an e-mail from a reader telling us this site has helped answer some of their queries or given them more dining options. Nothing can make us here at TAFB happier than knowing our readers are benefiting greatly from the reviews that we write because it just means that we have definitely achieved our aim.

In the last four months since TAFB was launched, we have covered so many different types of eateries ranging from Vietnamese food to popular cupcakes, and you know that this list of places will continue to grow in the years to come. We were also so lucky to be able to talk to various bakers with charitable causes, photograph their events and tell you their stories. While we have no idea what the future holds for us, we thought we’d give you a run down of all the places we’ve patronised this 2013, just in case you missed any of them 😉
