Writes & Bites: Lava Cheese Tarts from Prima Deli

I recently tried the much hyped about Lava Cheese Tarts from Prima Deli to see what the hype was all about and if the liu sha was as good as those found nestled within the soft and pillowy baos from Tang Tea House.

I’m glad to report that for $2.40 (promotional price) a pop, it actually tasted really good. I had mine during tea time (and I bought it around 11am) and it was still nice and oozy on the inside.

I was a little worried about how the combination of the cheese tart and the liu sha would taste but surprisingly, the cheese portion wasn’t all that ‘heavy’, it was a much lighter version of you normal cheesecake ala the Japanese cheese cake, but perhaps not as fluffy.

The liu sha was not at all disappointing – salty and sweet and strong enough for you to taste the yolk . I loved it !

The plain cheese tart was just so-so to me and I didn’t really think very much of it but the Salted Yolk Lava is definitely worth a try!
